UPDATE for all #AncMed fans & tooters: I have officially petitioned for a Latin translation of the #Mastodon UI and am waiting for an answer right now. If anyone of you wants to help out in the process, make sure to follow my #LatinToots , or join the CrowdIn translation tool as soon as the work begins. New hashtag concerning this project: #LatinUI
Fun idea: As #Mastodon is OpenSource and translations are done by volunteers - is there already a project to translate the UI to #Latin? Should I start working on this? Anyone already doing it or interested in helping out? Any documentation I should read first? Reboots to the dev/translator circles appreciated. #LatinToots
Just did a little hashtag search for #Latin, and there is close to nothing there - especially not much for the language. So, if you need help with or want to talk about Latin here in the Fediverse and see this one of my upcoming #LatinToots, feel free to get in touch.
Last week I had the opportunity to teach one of our international classes (i.e. students from abroad that are to be integrated into our schools late, due to different reasons, for example: war). As an ice-breaker I started with a simple task: finding the equivalent for "mouse" 🐭 in all their own languages, collecting & comparing them. And it still surprises me that neither of the Romance languages derive their word from the Latin "mus", while for example Ukrainian does. #LatinToots #Etymology
Had to research how to say "to toot" in Latin. As always, SententiaeAntiquae's #Zooglossia was the place to go: it's "barrire, barrio, [?], barritus". #LatinToots
