The sweet pea harvest is starting to ramp up.

These filled several vases - the smell around the house is wonderful.

There are still a few plants that haven’t started flowering yet - some that were sown late and others that sulked.

While I love the pretty pastel colours of sweet peas, I do think they need something darker to set them off. ‘Black Prince.’ Is doing the job beautifully.

This is the first proper vase of sweet peas of the season.

I don’t sow until January so they’re always a little later but this year they sulked in the cold spring.

My favourite garden shop no longer stocks the heirloom variety of Sweet Peas (Painted Ladies) that I have been growing and harvesting seed from for years.

The answer, then, is to plant every seed I have this spring and take as many new seeds as possible, to ensure I have an adequate supply in the future.
