The ENDORSE conference is taking place on 16-19 March 2021 as a digital event. It is creating an opportunity to link expertise to tackle current and future issues in the fields of interoperability and knowledge management. Benchmarking study on language editing in an international and multilingual environment.
This study, carried out by external researchers from Ipsos, aimed to identify and review relevant language-editing services deployed by other multilingual organisations in the field of non-legal publications, and to benchmark the Publications Office’s proofreading and language-editing model vis-à-vis relevant market practices. Key areas of focus included languages regularly covered; language-editing services offered; staff competences and skills; quality control of outsourced jobs; and threats and opportunity factors, for example in relation to new technological developments. Ultimately, the study sought to help support the Publications Office as a language-services provider by giving an overview of value-added language-editing services, proposing plans to best leverage the Office’s language-editing resources, identifying key existing gaps/constraints in the current language-editing situation of the Publications Office and providing recommendations for further development.

A compendium of inspiring projects in the area of language learning co-funded under the Erasmus+ Programme.
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport in Europe for the (2014 – 2020) period. Over this period, the programme will provide opportunities for over 4 million of Europeans to study, train, gain experience and volunteer abroad. Thanks to its lifelong learning approach, Erasmus+ brings these opportunities to all – students, learners, staff, trainees, teachers, volunteers and many more. In addition, education, training, youth and sport organisations participating in Erasmus+ engage in a number of development and networking activities. These include the strategic improvement of the professional skills of their staff, organisational capacity building and creating transnational cooperative partnerships with organisations from other countries in order to produce innovative outputs or exchange best practices. Erasmus+ is one of the European Union flagship programmes and has proved to be highly beneficial to the participants, not only in terms of supporting the transition to employment but also by creating a feeling of belonging to the same European community and promoting sharing common values. The Erasmus+ programme contributes to the creation of a European Education Area where learning, studying and undertaking research should not be hampered by borders and where, in addition to one’s mother tongue, speaking two other languages should become the norm. These initiatives reflect the European Commission’s ambition to enable all young people to receive the best education and training, and find jobs across the continent. Now it is time to discover excellent Erasmus+ projects in the area of language learning and get inspired by them!
