LBHF

London's Hammersmith & Fulham council has drafted a toll order that will apply to motorised vehicles for 10-ish years in order to raise £80m+ funds to repair Hammersmith Bridge.

Paper https://democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/documents/s125859/5%20-Toll%20order%20cabinet%20report%20final%20061023.docx%20V1.pdf to LBHF Cabinet 6 Nov'23 https://democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=116&MId=7476

Surplus funds (!) may be used to fund other green-ish initiatives.

Before closure, bridge saw 22k-30k motorised vehicle crossing/day, per DfT counts.

3/ #LBHF treated the Jan/Feb'23 consultation on the proposed #PSPO as a referendum, with submissions being treated as "votes" on the options.

The claim that 70% of 1233 responses have experienced issues with ebikes and escooters along the Thames riverside fails any sniff test - it is confected nonsense.

If residents in Hammersmith & Fulham want to challenge #LBHF council introducing the #PSPO then they need to get councillors to demand a "call-in" before 4July.

/End

2/ #LBHF #PSPO banning #eBikes and #eScooters from the Thames riverside gives exemptions to people with statutory disabilities, and parents taking kids to school.

This penalises the not-disabled using micro mobility for some e-enabled travel. And parents will have to find a different route home after dropping the kids at school.

(This policy is not very well thought through).

#Hammersmith & #Fulham Council #LBHF will proceed with a Public Space Protection Order #PSPO to ban #eBikes and #eScooters from the Thames riverside paths on 5 July 2023, unless residents get councillors to "call in" the proposed decision.

Public consultation in Jan/Feb'23 has been treated as a referendum with "votes" on options.

London's #Hammersmith & #Fulham Council #LBHF has published a proposed decision today to make permanent the King Street & gyratory "safer cycle pathway" (don't call it #cycleway #C9 #CW9).
Decision papers: http://democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=4592

Big increases in numbers of people cycling since interim scheme was installed.

Further work needed to improve safety at some junctions, as drivers are continuing to put people cycling at risk.

ii/ Suspect motive for #LBHF's proposed PSPO is a mix of issues:
> kids on illegal escooters;
> dumped hire escooters and ebikes (#Lime are notorious for ignoring discarded hire vehicles);
> Deliveroo-type delivery riders on illegally adapted e(motor)bikes.

PSPO ain't the right tool to fix these. Met Police won't enforce it. Council then left looking impotent.
And valid users of ebikes, such as parents taking young kids to school or people using them as mobility aids, are left unhappy.

I see #LBHF #Hammersmith & #Fulham Council has extended its consultation to Sunday 5 Feb'23, re its bonkers proposal to ban eBikes on the Thames side path for the full length of the borough boundary!

#LBHF wants to use a #PSPO Public Space Protection Order to ban ebikes, escooters and any "reckless cycling" along the council's full Thames side paths.

If you're using an ebike as a mobility aid, then you're banned.

Public Space Protection Order – Prohibiting the use of electronic and motorised vehicles and reckless riding of pedal cycles along the Thames Path

Residents have reported safety concerns along the Thames Path due to e-scooters and e-bikes. Some residents report feeling unsafe due to the speed of these vehicles, concerns around the obstructions in public walkways, and collisions. We want pedestrians to feel safe
