A Virtuous Business
(2024 - Netflix 12 1:30 eps)

Set in a small town in the early 90s, 4 women begin selling adult products. The money, & the breaking of taboos bring empowerment & friendship. For side stories, there is a mystery, some crime & romance.

Great acting, with period-appropriate costuming, sets, & props. The 4 FLs are struggling because of the men in their lives. We see how women are defined by their relationships with men & how difficult it is to have a sense of themselves because society refuses to acknowledge them as independent people.

The pacing is great, with a lot of marvelous comedy, touching moments, & friendship development. The last 1/2 of the last episode was slightly disappointing - not bad, & it wasn't that the story went astray - a different wrap-up would have been more appropriate.
