Indie Girls Story Bundle Launches on Steam, Up to 35% Off

It's not at all what I was expecting. I thought I was getting a cute fluffy game about running a catgirl teashop. Instead I got a beautiful story about caring for loved ones who have a terminal illness (and also a tea-making minigame).

It's really hard to write about this, hell it's a difficult subject matter at the best of times, but this game handles it so well, and somehow the juxtaposition of it's pastel pixel art, cute teashop, characters all named after sweet deserts and relaxing sound effects vs the game's actual subject matter somehow works.

There's three endings, with one that was obviously preferred by the developers, and I'm not entirely sure I agree with Tarte's decisions on that ending, but it's also an impossible decision to make, there's no right or wrong answer, or if there is one there's no way we could ever know what it is since we can't ask anyone affected by such decisions, yet people still have to make that call.

This game has given me a lot to think about.

If you like visual novels and are prepared to handle this subject matter, I thoroughly recommend picking it up. There's a free demo on Steam which covers the first part of the story
