A new book spine poem, for the season that’s in it.

Wintering
When things fall apart,
Leave the world behind:
Lurking underworld,
Wintering underland,
The beginning of spring,
The will to change
Almost there.

With thanks to the authors: Pema Chödrön, Rumaan Alam, Joanne McNeil, Don DeLillo, Katherine May, Robert Macfarlane, Penelope Fitzgerald, bell hooks, and Nuala Ó Faoláin; and thanks to Nina Katchadourian for the idea.
Don DeLillo has appeared in a couple of posts on Sentence first, on wordable awareness (Falling Man) and Jack Gladney’s German lessons (White Noise). Robert Macfarlane has featured a few times, including in the book spine poem ‘Secret Place’, while bell hooks appeared in ‘Useless Crazy Heart’, another bookmash.
Penelope Fitzgerald and Nuala Ó Faoláin featured in ‘Not Scared’, with the same books as the one above. This is something I try to avoid, but it was 10 years ago and I’d lost track when I put this one together.
Let me know if you make one of your own.
