Ross River residents renew calls to find missing Kaska woman
It’s been more than three years since Ramona Peter disappeared with few if any traces from Ross River, a community located about 400 kilometres northeast of Whitehorse. The last time someone saw the then-40-year-old woman, she was in front of one of the community’s most popular meeting places, the Dena General store.

The Kaska or Kaskians were a tribe of the Pontus, northern Anatolia (today's Turkey), around the Kizil Irmak river mouth, bordering on and constantly harrasing the Hittite empire. That area is mostly mountainous in nature, and there the Kaska occupied simple settlements which presumably formed a loose confederation.
