Imagine someone sitting on the bus telling their friend about how they're allergic to peanuts.

Wouldn't it be weird if you just stepped into that conversation with "actually, a lot of people are allergic to bananas, you know. Not every allergy is peanuts!"

Kind of a silly response to a conversation about peanut allergies, yeah?

Because this is how you sound when I mention a man doing something toxic and you jump in to tell me that women can be toxic too.

A common thread in the way men discuss things here is levelling the charge of "misunderstanding" at someone (who, from what I've seen is invariably not a man). There's this assumption that their ability to comprehend something is inherently correct and if they don't easily understand a point being made they won't struggle to think it through, they just decide its a problem with the writer.

Babe, that struggle is where the learning and discovery lie.

Me:
I think you're wrong because [evidence]
Him:
You misunderstand.. [repeats same thing ad nauseum without evidence]

..or..

Me:
[posts]
Him:
WHAT YOU HAVE POSTED IS CONFUSED
Me:
You mean it's confused YOU?
Him:
NO, IT IS A CONFUSED POST
Me:
You mean YOU find it confusing?
Him:
NO IT IS CONFUSED AND ILLOGICAL WITH YOUR SILLY GIRL WORDS

I'm seriously considering adding "no cis men comments" to all of my posts because I'm fucking DONE with the mansplaining here.

It's worse than anywhere else I've ever encountered.

I wish you could make posts so that they could be responded to by people who aren't men.
