Movie lovers, help me out!

I’m trying to make a list of #Jewish #horror #movies. I explicitly want it to be where Jewish folklore is accurately (or relatively accurately) portrayed, rather than some weird appropriated nonsense.

There are other lists but they include movies that just have a Jewish actor in, or movies that I wouldn’t classify as horror (e.g. Shiva Baby).

Help me #Mazeldon, you’re my only hope!

Jewish Horror

Attempting to make a list of horror films that are actually based on Jewish folklore and not some weird appropriated idea of it (I’m looking at you ‘Dybbuk box’). They in no particular order, and I definitely welcome suggestions! (I know a lot of people have Shiva Baby as a horror film but really I don’t think it fits unless we really stretch the meaning.)

welp, I finally watched #TheOffering

so, I don't consume a lot of #horror. I may regret starting it around midnight, not bc I'm worried about nightmares (I don't remember my dreams), but bc my heart rate isn't going to slow for the next two hours 😅

honestly though, it was good. I could have done with fewer jump scares (Link might have stayed on my lap), but it was really nice seeing #Jewish symbolism and hearing Hebrew prayers

While we’re on the subject, these are the best #Jewish #Horror #Movies I’ve watched. It’s a short list because most twist Jewish lore completely into something else (see: The Possession with it’s completely fake ‘Dybbuk box’)

1. Demon, 2015, Polish - fantastic!
2. The Vigil, 2021

Want to see:
- Shiva Baby
- The Boys from Brazil (DVD arrived today!)

Would very much welcome recommendations! (I haven’t seen The Golem 1915).
