With the closure of the Boags brewery in Launceston arguably the finest beer in Australia will cease to be made. Yes, they’ve shifted James Boag Premium Lager off to be brewed in industrial facilities elsewhere. No doubt at a lower cost of manufacture. The Boags Premium we get now is not the same product that is was when it was launched. It’s been ‘value engineered’ to taste like all the other stale products that are on the market. I might as well drink XXXX or Grate Northern if I want to drink something ordinary.

Boags is a “Premium” beer that should command a premium price. I for one would be happy to pay for that “Fresh from the Esk River” taste. Not to mention all the other Boags beers that we can’t get in Melbourne or anywhere else but Tassie.

Shame on you Lion Nathan for selling out Tasmania and beer lovers!
