This might be a pretty weird and unpopular Star Wars opinion, but I gotta say, I love Jakku. There is just something about it.
It's of course greatly elevated by the wonderful Rey's theme that plays often when she's on it, but the planet itself just gives me this sense of childlike wonder. I'm kinda biased. I've always had a thing for these types of worlds that are filled with ruins and so on. Especially shipwrecks technological. Like, I love ship cemeteries. There is something very captivating about them. So this planet definitely wins me over with that.
Some would call it just another desert planet, but I actually find it pretty different, personally. Like, Tatooine is very rocky, whereas this is much more desertic. It feels almost lifeless and hopeless in a way that Tatooine doesn't really give me, and it's greatly helped by all of the carcasses of Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, X-Wings, so many ships that have been left there from the massive battle that happened here. The landscape alone has so much story to tell.
I don't know, there's just something about it that very vividly captures my imagination. It makes me dream.
