America and Israel share an enemy — not a strategy

As fighting spreads across the Gulf, the war is often portrayed as a unified campaign against Iran. It is not. The reality, as is often the case in the

Very good explanation of why the #IranWar is NOT about #TrumpEpstein Files. Even though the #Epstein case might have had a role to play, the trajectory for war was actually set as early as #Trump's first term with his scrapping of the #JCPOA, and possibly even earlier.

>> The final decision to go to war [in #Iran] appeared to be sudden only because the #US, #Israel and #Gulf countries' strategic trajectories had been converging for nearly a decade.

The long road to war between the U.S., Israel and Iran

Domestic political explanations for the Trump administration's decision to go to war with Iran risk obscuring deeper causes.

‘Operation Epic Fury’ – Anatomy Of A War Of Aggression (Media Lens)

In the Guardian, Julian Borger described this latest war as ‘an unprovoked attempt at regime change in collaboration with Israel, with no legal foundation, launched in the midst of diplomatic efforts to avert conflict, and with minimal consultation with Congress or the American public’.

He also said, "I don't think any alternative to diplomacy is going to solve this problem."

#JCPOA and #Iran enriched uranium.
There was an agreement that seemed to be working, but U.S. withdrew from the agreement in 2028, and Iran withdrew in 2025. China, France, Germany, Russia, UK, and EU have not withdrawn.

As Security Council Stalls, There Are Other Ways to Stop US-Israeli War on Iran – The USA Potato

This #POTUS’s repeated strikes on Iran prove that he never managed to achieve a better “deal” than the #JCPOA.

Pro-JCPOA folks often claimed (and JCPOA critics usually denied) that the alternative to the JCPOA is war.

Every military strike on Iran is further proof that JCPOA critics lost that debate.

#Iran into using a nuclear weapon if it had one, knowing it did not, or develop one.

They've been knowingly & cynically baiting Iran for the past yr, then using the presumed result as pretext for war.

There was never any desire to work out an agreement.

The #JCPOA was working - til Trump blew it up, most likely b/c it was another one of Obama's many successes.

Now we have a mess on our hands.

Our only hope is the Iranian ppl can pull a rabbit out of a hat & turn Trump's dross into gold.
