Hating AI is good, actually

LinkedIn may be awash with boosters, but shunning AI is the human choice.

The Handbasket
So some people like to insist that transit is a burden because you have to interact with other people.

With that in mind, let me share one of my stories about transit. I used to take the LIRR train from Northport to NYC in the 90s. I took the same train every day and sat in the same train car and same seat because trains are good. The people on my train became very close.

My train conductor was my wedding photographer.
The people on my train car all helped me pick and gave recommendations where I proposed to my wife. My best man was met on the train. Four more people were in my wedding party. I shared books with my co-riders and every day we talked.

This isn't unique to the train, to LIRR or any particular mode but simply a matter of if you meet and interact with people on a daily basis they become important to you and affect your life. I am a reader and listen to music with headphones most of my transit life yet every time I use transit in my daily life and work I end up making friends and interacting with people.

The people who want to be alone and ride in tiny bubbles that protect them from interaction are missing out on what makes humans good. Society and community are the strengths of the human race. Isolation isn't a positive.
