For #HistFest23 Drs Anne Dolan and Eve Morrison show how ground-breaking software Transkribus read the famously illegible notebooks of Ernie O'Malley, Irish revolutionary.
A public lecture discussing the project to transcribe and edit the notebooks will be held at noon, Saturday 7 October in 45 Merrion Sq.
The notebooks form part of Ernie O'Malley's papers held in UCD Archives.
1923/24. Dublin Castle staff statement re alleged affair. Docs include medical cert confirming Miss Bradley is 'virginally intact'. Bradley describes her treatment by Capt Pat Moynihan, investigating. He asked her 'strings of the most filthy questions' and 'He got me to open my mouth, raised my lips with his fingers to examine, my gums, my teeth, my mouth, and throat. Again he asked me did I wear "open" or "closed" drawers?'
