Dopo una lunga attesa, è arrivata la risposta dell’Iran al memorandum di pace degli Stati Uniti. Sfortunatamente, non è quella che sperava Donald Trump, da tempo convinto di aver sconfitto il regime degli ayatollah. Il piano è stato infatti respinto perché, secondo l’emittente iraniana Press TV, “avrebbe significato la sottomissione di Teheran alle eccessive richieste di Trump”.
Una bocciatura accompagnata da una controproposta nella quale, sempre secondo la rete televisiva iraniana, viene “sottolineata la necessità che gli Stati Uniti paghino riparazioni di guerra, riaffermata la sovranità dell’Iran sullo Stretto di Hormuz e chiesta la fine delle sanzioni, oltre al rilascio dei beni e delle proprietà sequestrate al Paese”.
Di fronte a questa posizione, Trump è apparso a dir poco furioso e, con un post pubblicato su Truth Social, ha tuonato: “Ho appena letto la risposta dei cosiddetti ‘rappresentanti’ dell’Iran. Non mi piace, è totalmente inaccettabile!”.

Poi ha ulteriormente rincarato la dose: “Per 47 anni gli iraniani ci hanno ‘preso in giro’, ci hanno fatto aspettare, hanno ucciso la nostra gente con le loro bombe piazzate lungo le strade, hanno represso le proteste e, di recente, hanno sterminato 42.000 manifestanti innocenti e disarmati, ridendo del nostro Paese, ora di nuovo grande. Non rideranno più!”.
Parole che sembrano lasciare intendere come una ripresa delle ostilità possa essere vicina. Quel che è certo è che la risposta del presidente degli Stati Uniti non è passata inosservata a Teheran.
Come riferito da una fonte del governo iraniano: “Il fatto che al presidente Donald Trump non piaccia la nostra proposta di pace non ha importanza. Nessuno in Iran scrive piani per compiacere Trump. Il team negoziale deve elaborare proposte esclusivamente nell’interesse della nazione iraniana. Trump, in generale, non ama la realtà; ed è per questo che viene costantemente sconfitto dall’Iran”.

After a long wait, Iran’s response to the United States’ peace memorandum arrived. Unfortunately, it wasn’t what Donald Trump hoped for, having long been convinced of his victory over the ayatollahs’ regime. The plan was rejected because, according to the Iranian broadcaster Press TV, “it would have meant Tehran’s submission to Trump’s excessive demands.”

The rejection was accompanied by a counterproposal, also according to the Iranian television network, which “underscores the need for the United States to pay war reparations, reaffirms Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and requests the end of sanctions, as well as the release of assets and property seized from the country.”

Faced with this position, Trump appeared no less furious and, with a post published on Truth Social, thundered: “I just read the response of the so-called ‘representatives’ of Iran. I don’t like it, it’s totally unacceptable!”

Then he further escalated the situation: “For 47 years, Iranians have ‘played’ us, made us wait, killed our people with their bombs planted along the roads, suppressed protests, and, recently, slaughtered 42,000 innocent and unarmed demonstrators, laughing at our country, now once again great. They won’t laugh anymore!”

Words that seem to suggest a resumption of hostilities may be imminent. What is certain is that the United States president’s response was not unnoticed in Tehran.

As reported by a source from the Iranian government: “The fact that President Donald Trump doesn’t like our peace proposal doesn’t matter. No one in Iran writes plans to please Trump. The negotiating team must develop proposals solely in the interest of the Iranian nation. Trump, in general, doesn’t like reality; and that’s why he is constantly defeated by Iran.”
