In Latin America, up to 2.8 million tonnes of #lithiumionbatteries could be recycled by 2050. #Reuse and #recycling save valuable resources and reduce greenhouse gases. New overview study with #Interamericandevelopmentbank and Microenergy International: https://www.oeko.de/en/news/press-releases/prospects-for-battery-recycling-in-latin-america/ #Sustainability #CircularEconomy
Prospects for battery recycling in Latin America

Reuse and recycling are core elements of a sustainable approach to used lithium-ion batteries in Latin America. This is essential to conserve valuable resources and avoid climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions. The application of tried-and-proven best practices here would potentially avoid the disposal of up to two million tonnes of batteries as waste and enable up to 2.8 million tonnes to be recycled in the region by 2050.
