This has just popped up and I wonder if anyone else has seen this

v4.4.0-alpha.1+glitch on infosec dot exchange

Firefox 131.0 on Ubuntu

Has anyone reported being unable to add an image to either a new post or a reply?

Clicking on "Add images, a video or an audio file" does absolutely nothing

Nothing pops up, the prompt simply vanishes

BTW, the "Draw something" prompt works as expected

Checking back (I bookmark everything I post) the last time I was able to add an image to a reply seems to be Oct 07, 2024, 06:46 PM for whatever that's worth

Saw nothing on Github; thought I'd ask here before posting something over there

Matt Blaze @mattblaze takes aim in a recent post at the absurd default cropping behavior for images (https://federate.social/@mattblaze/110380464934526966).

The one thing, besides dark mode, most responsible for turning off new users is that feeds display a bunch of incomprehensible image junk.

This should be changed, but this is how it is. What can you do?

Test Image Focus Modification

These four panels show focus modification performed in the image edit window. By lowering the focus point it is possible to make the cat's face visible in the default cropped 16:9 views. By raising the focus point it is possible to show the beginning of a long text image in the default cropped 16:9 views. Note you can see the resultant 16:9 cropped version in the bottom left of each pane.

This is a long text test image uploaded to Mastodon to demonstrate image cropping. The original is 800 x 800 and posted with no focus modification. With default 16:9 cropping enabled the top and bottom are cut off making it impossible to read in unexpanded views.
