Wow! I just checked my analytics on Itch and DriveThru, and Ikaros has been downloaded 799 times! Not bad for a game that started as a OneNote page titled "Unfucking Fate Combat."

First #HesperaRPG playtest since migrating to the #IkarosRPG ruleset is live!
Blog post about it: https://thecloudtender.com/2024/06/17/hespera-2e-playtest-1.html

Oh, and if you have any settings questions, the first edition is about 50% fluff by page count. I do plan on retconning some of it, but the broad strokes are there.
Still absolutely torn on whether to do #IkarosRPG style conditions in #HesperaRPG or #FudgeRPG style ones. Should I just add both to the playtest and ask which people prefer? I wanna keep the playtest focused and not get bogged down with options, but Ikaros-style conditions just don't feel "Hespera-y" enough.
I woke up thinking about conditions in #HesperaRPG, and I can't tell if I'm not feeling totally sold on using the #IkarosRPG conditions system in it because it's actually not a good fit, or if I'm just self conscious about putting it in two games now and still being unable to explain it satisfactorily in text. Hmm...
Five hours later, and I'm done porting the conditions, injuries, and combat rules from #IkarosRPG to #HesperaRPG. I think I'll take a break for the rest of the day 😴
Reading over the #IkarosRPG rules that I'm porting to #HesperaRPG... and did I seriously put rules that modify how rolls are made _before_ the rules for how rolls actually work? Uff da
Game rules for the first playtest doc are coming together :) this part is pretty easy because it's more or less just paraphrasing what's already in the Ikaros rulebook.
#ttrpg goals for the year (as a designer):
1. Print version of #IkarosRPG
2. Ikaros SRD
3. Rebase #HesperaRPG onto the Ikaros SRD
4. Write at least a few blog posts a year and get commenting set up on thecloudtender.com
#ttrpg goals for the year (as a player):
1. Get way too deep into #Obsidian, then pull back to a happy medium
2. Try to play more than once a week (time permitting)
3. Make more of an effort to bring #CortexPrimeRPG to the table
I know I said I'd work on the physical edition of #IkarosRPG before working on porting #HesperaRPG to the Ikaros ruleset, but I just can't help thinking about how I'd do magic in the conversion!
In Hespera, ritual isn't a separate skill, but instead modifies how the roll is made. In Hespera 1e it just increased the attribute threshold, but I think with the move to the Ikaros ruleset, there's a lot more opportunity to get a little weirder with it.
