First #HesperaRPG playtest since migrating to the #IkarosRPG ruleset is live!

Oh, and if you have any settings questions, the first edition is about 50% fluff by page count. I do plan on retconning some of it, but the broad strokes are there.

🪐 Hespera 2e - Playtest 1 released!

Whew! After a few months of off and on work (mostly off), the first Hespera 2eplaytest is here! You can find the ruleshere, and the charactersheethere. I’msu...

Still absolutely torn on whether to do #IkarosRPG style conditions in #HesperaRPG or #FudgeRPG style ones. Should I just add both to the playtest and ask which people prefer? I wanna keep the playtest focused and not get bogged down with options, but Ikaros-style conditions just don't feel "Hespera-y" enough.

Trying to get the #HesperaRPG first playtest doc finished? Sounds like the perfect time to release one of my other games as an SRD instead! https://thecloudtender.com/2024/05/19/pine-srd.html

🌲 Pine SRD

While I’ve been spending a lot of time working on the Hespera 2e playtestrecently, that hasn’t stopped me from wanting to make an official SRD for thesystem ...

Here's a funny coincidence: turns out the font I chose for subtitles and chapter headers in the #HesperaRPG playtest is the same font that Blood Ceremony, the band that was the primary inspiration for the occult part of the setting, uses on the cover of their fourth album!

I woke up thinking about conditions in #HesperaRPG, and I can't tell if I'm not feeling totally sold on using the #IkarosRPG conditions system in it because it's actually not a good fit, or if I'm just self conscious about putting it in two games now and still being unable to explain it satisfactorily in text. Hmm...

Five hours later, and I'm done porting the conditions, injuries, and combat rules from #IkarosRPG to #HesperaRPG. I think I'll take a break for the rest of the day 😴

Three social skills and only combat skill feels like a good mix, to me.

Honestly I feel like all other things aside, working on writing a playtest doc has really helped me work on my brevity!

#HesperaRPG status: I need to stop getting nerd sniped by #typst features.

I'm looking for feedback on a secondary dice mechanic for #HesperaRPG 2e.

The main mechanic is a d6 roll&keep system, where you roll 2 or more d6, keep 2, then add them together with a skill from 0 to 5 to see if you can beat a target number.

Outside of that mechanic, every other die roll is a d3, and I thought it would be cool to have a d3 that rolls towards higher numbers as your skills increase.

Right now it's:
- d6 higher than skill -> 1
- otherwise: 1-3 -> 2, 4-6 -> 3
