There's more criticism of Santana's contentious gold mining project at Bendigo. Ian Taylor has joined the fray with an open letter to Chris Bishop questioning the necessity of using fast-track legislation on such a risky project. He says:

---

Bendigo is a cyanide-leach gold operation that is:

* producing arsenic-bearing tailings
* stored behind a dam
* located in a seismically active region
* at the headwaters of major water systems.

Taken together, these factors do not appear well suited to assessment under the compressed timeframes of the Fast-Track process.

---

While I don't always agree with Taylor, he's right in this instance. I admire the people who are standing up and trying to stop this project damaging and polluting the Central Otago landscape forever.

Forever.

Jeez. Ian's really obsessed with his own importance these days, isn't he.

"So I told the Prime Minister what she was doing wrong... but did she listen?"

I almost didn't click on this vomit-inducing headline which reads, "David Seymour, you are my Person of the Year for 2024".

But it's worth a read. Ian Taylor lays into Mister 8% Seymour and his Atlas Network philosophy of selfishness.

Ian Taylor confesses (?) that he voted for National. Just one week into the new government, he's regretting the decision. He has resigned from two boards so he can criticise the govt.

It amzes me that anyone could look at Luxon and think, "I want him to run our country." But realisation is better late than never, I guess.
