I've been working through a mini-course on #inkscape and learning a BAJILLION things mostly on the #software but also some #design tips (there's a separate set of project-based videos for design)

Now I'm at work fumbling with #powerpoint and wishing it was inkscape.

Why don't I just use inkscape? Because
a) none of the standard templates exist
b) I couldn't share slides back and forth

If you didn't nod your head sadly at bullet b I don't think I can explain it to you. Powerpoint slides are more important than clean drinking water where I work.

Conversely, why don't I take a PowerPoint course? Because

a) Microsoft changes everything every 18 months, so what's the point
b) I would no longer have "it takes me forever" as a reason to get someone else to do it

I used #Gimp and #Inkscape to enhance an image generated with Gemini.
The image is barely decent, but for all those details it would take me a full week of work.

I fixed all the idiosyncrasies and it took me just a couple of hours instead. I am satisfied about my reliable #floss tools, lesser about the AI, I'm glad I finished it so quickly.

I'm very torn about the use of these brand new generative tools. 😖
