#IFindHope in the six states that passed laws or are in the process of passing laws to protect privacy, health, and self-determination by protecting the right to abortion. Iโ€™m interested to learn more about how ballot initiatives and the like can be introduced and how to support similar efforts.
#IFindHope in my neighbors who got together to hand out Halloween candy together, in the folks who tend to little free libraries, in the volunteers who organize community bike rides, in the folks I reached out to yesterday who hadnโ€™t only voted but were volunteering to support at the pollsโ€ฆ in the thousands of ways, big and small, that people have been and will continue to show up for each other.
#IFindHope in the many pathways to bring thoughtful people into impactful roles in government. I am inspired by the many #fellowship applicants who strive to serve, and the fellows who turn away from (often lucrative) alternatives in order to contribute their skills to policy, to implementations, to public service.
#IFindHope in the beautiful changing color of leaves this fall and the reminder that change is inevitable. I find hope in the onion cuttings that decide to sprout shoots and start new lives in my vegetable drawer. I find hope in tenaciousness of living things, showing time and again that adaptation and persistence are essential.
#IFindHope when people reach out to me about being a #nonbinary leader in my field. I am grateful to have been welcomed and respected by my peers, and Iโ€™m hopeful because more of us being out makes it easier for others to understand themselves and find the language to communicate it with their own communities.
#IFindHope in the growing adoption of #AltText and the volunteers responding to the Alt4Me tag, who help provide image descriptions for those who need it. Increasingly, tech builders are recognizing the importance of promoting this behavior. Conversations about #disability (including #InvisibleDisability and #ChronicIllness) are becoming more mainstream.
#IFindHope in peopleโ€™s increasing awareness of when news and social media are not adding to their lives. I am grateful for the strategies people are sharing on emotional regulation. I am optimistic about the ways people are adapting to these systems and negotiating relationships with news, with social media, with technology, etc that work better for them.
#IFindHope in the way different communities are leveraging technologies to experiment with and build better ways of #relating. I am inspired by the #DWebCamp community and everyone working on #PublicAI, who continue to develop the foundations of a more equal, empowered ecosystem.
#IFindHope in the incredible push toward #renewables and energy efficiency. Advancements in #solar power production have been extraordinary. #HeatPumps are incredible, powerful tools, and weโ€™re beginning to see their widespread adoption.
