A few weeks ago, I posted a photo of some fruit country wine fermenting in a glass crock. After airlocking it in a carboy for a few weeks, I've racked & bottled it for a bit of aging. I kept one bottle to drink 'young'. It tastes like a cider or a sour, with just a bit of carbonation fizz.

Very low alcohol - definitely less than a cider. A lovely, refreshing drink.

So my spouse planted way too many hot pepper plants. And they've done really well. So I went looking for recipes I could make to use up tomatoes & habanero peppers. So I found a recipe for spicy tomato jam.

Using ONE hot pepper for 5 lbs of tomatoes. LOL.

1 pepper down, several hundred to go!

We seem to have a resident fox who like to sun itself on the lawn over our leachfield. Hello, little friend!

These sunny September weather has been great for the garden. Today's harvest included corn, tomatoes, peppers, & winter squash.

We planted 5 varieties this year: purple, pinto, red, & 2 kinds of large white potatoes. The big bin is about half full & I still have more to harvest.

After neglecting the garden for the work around the Hardwick Fair, today was a harvest day.

I froze 20 lbs of tomatoes, picked a ton of bubblegum plums, chopped & cored a bunch of pears to make pear butter, & chopped up the Shiro plums I was holding in the fridge to macerate with sugar for more jam.

Phew!

I still need to blanch & freeze greenbeans.

Everything comes fast & furious in August.

Yes, I remembered to turn off the electric fence before I harvested this basket full of Chinese cabbage, bok choy, our 1st broccoli, asparagus, and a few day lilly blooms.
