~New Beginnings ~

I'd say this is the first artwork I've finished in 2024! :D I've started it shortly after moving into my own place and kinda tried to incorporate the feeling of looking forward to what the future brings into this piece. (Much needed considering how the world seems to fall apart).

I tried to work less with layers and layer effects and instead paint shadow and texture alike on the same layer. I think it turned out fairly alright!!

Wonderful artwork done by MDeltaBlood!! They did an amazing job!!

A bit of background to the picture: I grew up and lived most of my life thus far around Biel/Bienne in the Seeland of Bern, Switzerland. Being a "Seeländer" has become an integral part of my identity, even now that I've moved away due to my studies and now my job, each time I return it feels like coming home. Thus I commissioned MDelta for this piece to show my connection to it. The pose with the two axes is a hint towards the coats of arms of Biel/Bienne.
