45-year-old man arrested on arson charges, accused of setting fires around Memorial Park

Dustin Schlain is accused of igniting combustibles inside of the park at 4501 Woodway Dr. near Interstate 610, with the intent to destroy vegetation. He is also accused of using a hand-held lighter to burn vegetation in front of a building on Knox Street, just east of Memorial Park.

The Houston Fire Department was dispatched to the Independence Hall senior living apartment complex just before 11 p.m. after reports of a fire. Crews called for a second alarm after arriving to a heavy fire in one of the buildings in the complex.
