Three firefighters injured in Houston apartment complex blaze Tuesday morning, officials said

In response to reports of people trapped in a fire, Houston Fire Department crews were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 4800 block of Jarmese Street around 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, Brent Taylor, a spokesperson for the fire department said.

The injured juveniles were 10, 14, 15 and 16. Three of them were wounded in extremities but one was shot in the abdomen, Howard said. They were each transported to a nearby hospital. Police at a press briefing Thursday night did not provide details of the severity of their injuries.

The fire department urged drivers to avoid the area on Tuesday evening because of heavy emergency traffic. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
