I’ve referred a couple of times to the fact that Wartburg in East Germany and DKW in the West shared a common ancestry tracing back to the pre-war incarnation of Auto Union, which as my mug from the Horch museum in Zwickau shows, was a constellation of four brands (represented by the four-ring logo) - Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer.
