I *did* write the documentation back in the days but apparently 5 years has done its job with it. I guess 2 firewalls has broken during that time, and I've at least doubled the amount if #raspberrypi's in the house.

Внедрение гигабита вынудило на замену кабеля аплинка (был нестабилен), теперь у меня модный Cat 6A двойной экранировки до 10 Gbit. Сейчас примеряюсь на замену всех ethernet на Cat 6A в надежде ещё более улучшить стабильность и скорости.
So, excited! Finally got FTTH installed. Now we've got proper symmetric (almost) gig connectivity and no bandwidth caps.
Upgrading the APs to in the house and decided I wanted to mount the garage AP upright on the baker's rack post in the garage so it radiates upward into the main floor. Measured the dimensions of the included bracket and modeled a post mount for it. Now it's published in case it can help any of you other nerds out there.

#TIL about the special-use .home.arpa tld. It's reserved for "non-unique use in residential home networks" and free to use. I just remapped all my local self-hosted services to *.home.arpa domains. So much better than using 192.168.0.*:PORT #selfhosted #selfhosting #homenet
Gibt es eine Software welche mir im Heimnetzwerk eine Art Radio Stream meiner Musiksammlung zur Verfügung stellt. Dieser Stream sollten dann von Internet fähigen Radios aus dem internen Netzwerk abgegriffen und abgespielt werden können.
Diese Lösung am besten als Server Variante oder Oberfläche oder ggf. noch Weboberfläche.
Looking at starting up my own #HomeNet / #HomeLab more seriously, does anyone have any tips for securing the network if I wanted to, for example, set up a VPN back into the home net?
I know that I'd need to set up a separate Internet facing subnet/DMZ and would almost certainly need a dynamic DNS service, but I don't know quite enough of the lingo to separate the chaff from the grain while searching.
