Nice #accessibility items of note from yesterday’s faculty and staff opening week kickoff at #HighlineCollege:

The big morning event was live captioned (as is today’s).

There are tables set aside on an upper level specifically for people who need a quieter/less crowded space. These tables were also specifically mentioned during the opening remarks. (They’re available today as well.)

Also specifically mentioned in the opening remarks was that people who have the need to stand up, move around, and so on should feel free to do so, rather than feeling they had to stay in their seats the full time. (This was also mentioned today as well.)

It’s nice working somewhere that is consciously making an effort to keep accessibility in mind, visible, and part of the active conversation.
