I'm looking for feedback on a secondary dice mechanic for #HesperaRPG 2e.

The main mechanic is a d6 roll&keep system, where you roll 2 or more d6, keep 2, then add them together with a skill from 0 to 5 to see if you can beat a target number.

Outside of that mechanic, every other die roll is a d3, and I thought it would be cool to have a d3 that rolls towards higher numbers as your skills increase.

Right now it's:
- d6 higher than skill -> 1
- otherwise: 1-3 -> 2, 4-6 -> 3

There are two use cases I'm thinking of for this die:

1. Helping. Helpers roll a skill die (my name for this), and the highest bonus applies.
2. Ritual. Roll some number of skill dice against your Ritual skill (or Willpower, maybe) and keep the highest bonus.

With a base range of only 2d6 for rolls, I'm clamping these bonuses to +3 to keep other bonuses relevant.

My question though: is this too complicated? It makes sense in my brain, but explaining it is hard, which is usually a bad sign.
