#HelloTalk has been one of the greatest resources for me to improve my #Japanese. I have found chat/speaking partners (even met with one!) and native speakers correct my grammar! The app itself is also dogshit lol Full of bugs, annoying design decisions and monetization crap. And of course bullshit "AI". The other parts annoy me, but eh, I don't care too much. There is this one fucking AI bot that goes around correcting posts by users. And it keeps correcting my native German text parts! (...)

Was praised by my #Japanese teacher for being able to speak a lot quicker than usual🥹Learning a language is such a long and hard endeavor, so it's nice to see small improvements even if you are far from fluent 🥹Finally finding speaking partners (on #helloTalk) and taking some speaking lessons (on #italki) did help a lot. Highly recommend using these or similar services to just find someone to talk to in your target language

With all the garbage #AI #language learning stuff being marketed, I just want to say that it is actually really easy in this day and age to get information and explanations from native speakers directly. I use #helloTalk and while the app itself is a bit crappy, the people are very helpful. Every time I have a very specific question about #Japanese I post it there and usually get an answer in a few minutes. With a bit of effort, you can also easily find regular partners to talk and chat to (...)

I think I found out what bothers me on Hellotalk. They don't gamify the learning process, they gamify their earns. It's useless to play, you can only really learn if you pay the damn VIP version. 👎🏻🤔 #Hellotalk #languagelearningapps

@salsagal I'm trying out #HelloTalk to get some Russian language practice, and I guess it would work even better for pt-BR since there's many Brazilians who want to practice English. (there you can talk 1-to-1 or post stuff like in a normal social network and get feedback). I would prefer to recommend some open source thing, but I don't know any.

And I'm Brazilian, If you want I'm available to chat in pt-BR :)
