Where are the #UnitedStates heading? #Trump/#POTUS ordered the #NationalGuard against the will of #California’s #governeur together with some 700 #marines to #LosAngeles.
This stinks like #1933 — sorry! #HighTime to leave the #USA for a better place. And I am certainly not talking about #woke and #leftwing #politicians… Who wants to live in a #country that is run by a #dictatorlike #onemanshow?! #Europe/the #EU, but also #Argentinia/#Brasil et al. will welcome #hardworking #immigrants.
The splintering continues. I needed some extra-long fence posts (2.6 m), and during the fencing work, I discovered that pointed posts are easier and faster to drive into the humus-rich, root-filled forest soil compared to digging a hole for the blunt ones that need to be wedged in with stones. Wedging works better on rocky or stony ground. Round posts hold better in the soil than square ones, and over time, roots can wrap around them more easily, providing extra stability.

Preparing fence posts for a new 95-metre stretch of fencing. I'm working with larch that is a tough, durable stuff that’ll last for decades once the splint wood is removed. Each post is shaped by hand with care, aiming for precision and consistency. It’s slow, physical work, but there's real satisfaction in seeing the pile grow. These posts will form the backbone of the fence. Solid, straight, and made to endure.

Last week, we took down a single #larch log from a windthrow like in good old times. I’m really pleased with the yield of fence posts from that tree. We cut the first three lengths into quarters using our bandsaw (woodland mill), halved another three with the chainsaw, left two lengths round, and cut the rest of the top into firewood.
The posts are between 2.2 and 2.4 meters long—solid and just the right size. Over the past week, I’ve been chopping away the sapwood with an axe. Definitely saved myself a trip to the gym with that one!
