On the positive side re: our guests (and totally independent of racist jokes), the woman gave my partner and me these chunky slippers she knit over the past couple of days during their visit. How many sweaters does a person living in tropical climate need? I keep making these knowing that I can only wear them when I get out of the country. I really don't care.
I am using two yarns that have been in my stash for too long- Isager Yarn Alpaca Merino held together with Maurice Brassard et Fils. The marled effect of holding them together is just too beautiful. Very soft too.
