Some areas are protected by the state, but they are reserved for indigenous peoples. These are the last completely preserved areas of the jungle. The Guardians protect their land and pursue illegal activities. This work is dangerous, many of these Guardians have been murdered. Impressive are the satellite images showing the loss of rainforest around the reserves within 30 years. Jungle giants that are cut down within seconds are between 200 to 500 years old.
