I built a guitar today! This started life as a NOVA (Sears house-brand) Stratocaster which I painted light blue (I was going for Daphne blue, but it's not quite right) and then I popped in some ceramic single coil pickups (the original guitar was HSS). Sounds good, looks good, plays good! What's not to like?

Hopefully my soldering job holds! LOL!

#Guitar Update:

Wanted to take my Tele into get a proper set up, but I had wired up the switch wrong so the pickups are wonky. Fixed that last night, but melted the DPDT switch that does the coil splitting. So, Had to order more (will be here on Sunday!).

I also have to finish painting my Daphne Blue Strat (tonight!) so I can use it while my Tele is in the shop.

Busy busy!

So for my resurrected EA-250 I installed some home scatter wound P90s. But the pickup tops ended up at quite an angle (~4.5 degrees) with the strings due to the higher neck angle than on a Casino. So I made (3D printed) some wedged spacers for them. For this guitar I found it to provide much better sound, dynamics, and “smoothness”. I think it’s definitely worth doing. You might be able to see on the marked up photo of the bridge pickup attached.

This evening I 1: successfully adjusted a banjo truss rod, eliminating string buzz on the instrument. 2: rebuilt a epiphone acoustic electric that was gutted, getting the electrics and harness reinstalled and now its strung up and playing nicely. Ill try plugging in in the AM
