For the fourth time in vain, House of Representatives decides to end GNU term

The House of Representatives issued Resolution No. 9/2024, declaring the end of the term of the Government of National Unity, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, in accordance with the previous HoR decision No. 10 / 2021 regarding withdrawing confidence from the government, noting that the House of Representatives took the same step three previous times. According to the decision, the government emanating from the House of Representatives is the sole executive authority in the country, until a new government is elected.

US Chargé d’Affaires, Jeremy Berndt met with Adel Juma, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and Ibrahim Dabaiba, Advisor to the Prime Minister, at his residence in Tunis on Wednesday.  "We discussed the ongoing crisis regarding the Central Bank of Libya and the urgent need for a consensus-based resolution through UNSMIL's mediation, as well as the legitimate concerns of many Libyans about oil field shutdowns that affect resources belonging to the whole Libyan people." Berndt said in an X post on US embassy's account.

GNU reviews plans to confront emergencies that might arise in Zliten valleys

The National Emergency Committee of the Ministry of Local Government in the Government of National Unity (GNU) discussed the necessary plans to confront any emergency in the valleys located within the scope of Zliten Municipality. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Local Administration and Chairman of the Committee, Nasr Al-Mahtout, in the presence of the members, on the sidelines of their visit to Zliten on Sunday to inspect the conditions of the dams and valleys there.

GNU prepares for national population census

The Government of National Unity (GNU) held a meeting on Thursday at the Prime Minister's Office to review progress on the seventh national population census and related surveys. The session grouped the Ministers of Planning and State for Cabinet Affairs alongside key officials from the General Information Authority, Civil Status Authority, and the Statistics and Census Authority.
