@varjolintu thanks, I'd seen this config change and updated the native messaging link and it would populate fields but the ctrl U didn't work, still opened Firefox. I changed default web browser in KDE and it worked after that. Very impressed so far!
I did see in about:config that the entries for ml.chat are there. Do I need to be concerned?
I'll have a look at #waterfox as well, but Firefox is nearly out of my workflow now.

@martinus IIRC, debian used to include iceweasel and not Firefox for some reason.... branding? License? No distribution rights?
I don't rely on Firefox sync or password saving anymore as I do this via #KeePassXC but integration with librewolf et.al is causing me a headache . Can't wait to delete Firefox. Not going near Nazi browsers like brave and don't want chromium based ones either.

For anyone who is changing to LibreWolf from Firefox, you don't need to import your book marks, just copy the contents of your Firefox profile into the profile for Librewolf. Start the new browser and everything is there.
