Have you ever heard of the “bleeding-heart baboon?” It’s a nickname for the gelada (Theropithecus gelada), a large primate that can only be found in the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea, where it lives in groups of up to 350 individuals. Despite its nickname and fearsome appearance, it isn’t a true baboon—it’s the last member of a group of grass-grazing primates that once roamed much of Africa and India.
