Horrifying abuse at games outsourcing companies in SE Asia.

Hard not to view this in a neo-colonial lens given US involvement in the Indonesian mass purging of union organizers and socialists in the 60s (not to mention ongoing ethnic cleansing of Papau with US weapons). These workers enable massive profits for many gaming corporations.

American trade union launches campaign for games industry unionisation

To help solve the workplace problems of the games industry, an American union, the CWA, today launched a campaign encouraging and supporting unionisation.

#GameWorkersUnite is an org with many local chapters. Our local chapter isn't a union, but others are.

Stuff is happening and movements are beginning at several companies, but this stuff can't be discussed publicly.

Interesting, there's a workshop on #WorkersRights next week here in #Montreal organised by #GameWorkersUnite/#GWU for he benefit of #gamedev employees:

Now, how do I forward this to my friends over next door at #Ubisoft?
