Think I found a new thing, finding and reading through those old video game booklets that would come in the case with your game. Might start posting some of the pages I like or find interesting.

Here's a few from Mario Kart Double Dash for the #Gamecube.

I miss the comprehensiveness of old Player's Guides where they were often writing the guides in tandem with the developers actually making the game, usually with late localization prototypes so they'd have basically all the info about the game.

These pages have so much personality and practically work as extended player's manuals in and of themselves.

Here's a picture of the Donkey Kong 64 player's guide I've had since childhood that I took pretty decent care of. The amount of detail, care and attention that went into writing this guide is insanely great.

I love the Genesis manual for Starflight 1. 150 some pages of mostly lore dump. I still have a physical one from my dad's copy. (He never beat it. Couldn't figure out where to drop the black eggs and just gave up in a huff.) #VideoGames #Starflight #GameManuals https://archive.org/details/starflight-sega-genesis-manual/page/n109/mode/1up
Starflight Sega Genesis game manual : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

The thick manual for the Sega Genesis game Starflight (itself a port of an older PC game).

One quick branch-off from my intro post: I've recently been attempting to scan a bunch of my #gameManuals for both archival reasons and because they're neat. I upload them as I do them, and they're all 300 DPI, raw (unedited) and totally free to use. Please feel free to take and use them, you can credit me or not, idc, and please let me know if you do use them! It would mean a lot to know that my time is paying off.

Link to the main directory for them is in my profile.
