Lizzo, durante un’intervista al podcast Friends Keep Secrets di martedì 31 marzo, ha rivelato di aver perso la verginità solo nel 2020, in occasione della vittoria del suo primo Grammy Awards. La cantante di “About Damn Time” ha detto di essersi fatta una promessa da bambina che era determinata a mantenere: “Sono sbocciata tardi, a 30 anni”.
“Sono maturata tardi. Ho mentito a lungo al riguardo. – ha detto Lizzo ai conduttori Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky e Kristin Batalucco – Non è pazzesco? Non ci pensavo nemmeno… Mi ero promessa, quando ero più giovane, che non avrei fatto sesso finché non avessi vinto un Grammy”.
La sua affermazione ha lasciato i conduttori sbalorditi e Lil Dicky le ha chiesto se alla fine avrebbe ceduto anche senza vincere un Grammy. Cioè, quando eravamo adolescenti nella mia chiesa, avevamo fatto tutti un patto: non avremmo fatto niente prima del matrimonio. E poi, ero terrorizzata. Nessuno voleva baciarmi. Era la notte di Capodanno e lui mi ha costretta. Ero davvero arrabbiata e ho pensato: ‘Il mio primo bacio è rovinato’. Ero furiosa”.
La cantautrice ha attualmente una relazione con Myke Wright, con cui ha ufficializzato la storia nel 2022. Tuttavia, si conoscono dal 2016, quando erano co-conduttori del programma musicale di MTV Wonderland.

Lizzo, during an interview on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, March 31, revealed that she lost her virginity only in 2020, on the occasion of her first Grammy Awards win. The “About Damn Time” singer said she made a promise to herself as a child that she was determined to keep: “I blossomed late, at 30 years old.”

“I matured late. I lied about it for a long time.” – Lizzo told hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco – “Isn’t that crazy? I wasn’t even thinking about it… I had promised myself, when I was younger, that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”

Her statement left the hosts stunned, and Lil Dicky asked her if she had eventually caved in without winning a Grammy. Lizzo, who won her first Grammy in January 2020, laughed at the comment and then clarified that the “thing” “didn’t happen the night of the Grammys,” but shortly after.

“I feel like I’ve taken a weight off my stomach – she said. “It was so embarrassing. I was with a group of friends. One night we were chatting and someone asked me: ‘Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?'”

But that’s not all, Lizzo revealed that she gave her first kiss at 21 years old, and that it was “terrible. You have no idea. For me, it was also a religious issue.
