China launches a global partnership against poverty and for development.

PEKIN (CHINA) (XINHUA/ITALPRESS) – The Global Partnership for Poverty Reduction and Development (GPPAD) was officially established yesterday during the World Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development 2026, currently taking place in Beijing, according to an announcement made during the event.
Promoted jointly by China, 53 other countries and nine international organizations, the GPPAD represents a key step in global efforts to reduce poverty, the announcement stated.
Encouraging members to pursue poverty reduction and development strategies appropriate to their specific conditions, the GPPAD will promote the exchange of experiences in poverty reduction and governance, and jointly explore pathways to eradicate poverty at its roots, according to the announcement.
The partnership welcomes the participation of governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia and the media, with the aim of jointly promoting a fair, inclusive, non-discriminatory and sustainable development environment, the announcement reported.
Speaking at the forum on the same day, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong stated that China will actively support the GPPAD in strengthening political dialogue, technical demonstrations and talent training, helping developing countries to further enhance their capabilities in poverty reduction.
