I'm at the launderette. It's really busy. A dryer finished so someone emptied it to use the dryer, the person who owns the clothes isn't here though. 3 ladies are chatting and folding the clothes. No one knows each other. It's all rather lovely.

Who knew that sitting in the launderette showed you a sweet side of life.

Also there's a man here unsure how to do the wash, he asked me for help, and promised he wasn't a weirdo. He's not a weirdo and now lots of the women are helping him too.

This is my 1,000th post. I joined in 2022 after I moved to the Isle of Skye. Since then I have enjoyed the contact with so many of you. You are, without exception, a very interesting group of people. You are spread across the world and your interests, enthusiasms and views are wide and varied. However not so varied as to include any negativity, hatred or bigotry. I am always uplifted by your posts. Thank you all. You bring joy.

Good morning Fedi friends. It’s a gorgeous morning, lovely & cool & about 17c. The sun is peeking over the hills now though & starting to show its light in my garden. Here we go keeps going through my head as the north of Victoria enters a week of extreme heat, starting with 43c here in my area today. Some places will be worse & I hope a few will be better. I do know it’s giving me the creeps at the thought of it & what its impact could be. I have watered everything, filled the birdbaths & put a couple of extra filled containers in different areas so that there’s plenty of water for anything that will need it.
Goodness people are lovely, I not only have a heap of cheese & now I’ve been offered a dozen fresh eggs. Other friends are looking after a relatives property for a week & the chickens are really laying apparently. Frittata in the next day or 2, with veg & a lot of cheese 😂.
Going to shower shortly & do a lovely balance class before it gets too hot, then down to my sisters for an hour or so. I’ll be home before the heat gets extreme though.

That naughty teeny tiny dog Ebby took off this morning as we were out walking, freaked me out. She’s so little she could hide behind a blade of grass & not be seen! George stayed by my side the whole time I searched for her.
A truck came down the road driven by a local I hadn’t met before. Tells me his name is Brownie, big (very) fella with a scar on his forehead. He knows Ebby & asks if I’ve searched his property & in we go, no she wasn’t there. Brownie gets in a little buggy & says he’ll check down the road one way & I go back the other way towards home. Very near home there she is coming out of the bush looking very pleased with herself. Panic over, heart rate decreases but that is my nightmare scenario of maybe having to tell an owner I’ve lost their much loved pet. I pick her up & tell her off then walk back down to tell Brownie & to thank him. George has stayed glued to my side all through it. He’s a good boy - Ebby not so much 😏 - she will be on a lead tomorrow morning for the last walk & won’t like it. #HouseSit #PetSit #CountryFolk #GoodPeople.
