A quotation from Euripides

MEDEA: I think the unjust man who can speak cleverly
incurs the greatest penalty for, feeling confident
to cloak injustice in fair speech,
   he dares the utmost villainy.

Euripides (485?-406? BC) Greek tragic dramatist
Medea [Μήδεια], l. 580ff (431 BC) [tr. Ewans (2022)]

A quotation from C. C. Colton

Corruption is like a ball of snow, when once set a rolling it must increase. It gives momentum to the activity of the knave, but it chills the honest man, and makes him almost weary of his calling: and all that corruption attracts, it also retains, for it is easier not to fall, than only to fall once, and not to yield a single inch than having yielded to regain it.

Charles Caleb "C. C." Colton (1780-1832) English cleric, writer, aphorist
Lacon: Or, Many Things in Few Words, Vol. 2, § 6 (1822)

A quotation from Marcus Aurelius

Injustice is a kind of blasphemy. Nature designed rational beings for each other’s sake: to help — not harm — one another, as they deserve. To transgress its will, then, is to blaspheme against the oldest of the gods.

Marcus Aurelius (AD 121-180) Roman emperor (161-180), Stoic philosopher
Meditations [To Himself; Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν], Book 9, ch. 1 (9.1) (AD 161-180) [tr. Hays (2003)]

I'm trying to write without a #desk, a pen and paper. A #knavery of the Gods, as internal struggle drives me #crazy, and I need to get it out of the system. #Dimension shifts. Thrown in the air like grain to lose the #husk, I raise my voice and sing.

It's pure #chicanery and #knavery not to expect me to use my #pee #pee tube to close snorkellers' breathing apparati and laugh a febrile, tubercular squeal while they #Perish

Most of the flock cared only for the solstice festival because the humans left food out for the statues, but Clip loved it for the Knavery of snatching the offerings out of the humans' baskets before they could be placed. Eating the food was fun too, but the true thrill was in the brazen theft.

For when the pious are sent from the heavens the earth will tremble; a triptych on virgin snow. One for the #knavery against the gods, one for the vanity of kings, and one for long-forgotten dreams. Shudder and fall to your knees both you seditious and sumptuous, slaves to self-indulgence. No army, nor magic, nor pretentious mimicry would save your soul. Cower to the earth, beg for hope for merciful grace; the race of men will meet their close in an all-deafening choir of croaks.
