A few online diversions took me back to the Kickstarter page for Kevin Rolfe's Golden Heroes / Squadron UK supplement, Legacy. It was going to include "The Lancelot Caper," Marcus L. Rowland's announced but never published Games Workshop adventure, which I was pretty excited to hear.

Unfortunately, Legacy funded ten years ago and Rolfe never delivered the project. No updates in five years and mostly promises prior to that. He did post a few PDFs largely cobbled together from previously published material, but no Lancelot Caper. Backers appear to have given up and accepted that they'll see neither product nor refunds.

Funny what a bummer it feels, even now, especially considering that I didn't lose anything on the Kickstarter. Golden Heroes is still a pretty solid superhero RPG with a unique tone, and it would have been great to have had a collection of scenarios and other titbits to round it out even thirty years later.

And I'd still love to read "The Lancelot Caper."

But the one that really comes to mind was The Hurler (I've heard the jokes). An Irish cop who found Cu Chulainn's hurley which transformed him into a speedster with spells he could cast from his stick.

Here is an early image. Thanks for the HeroMachine reminder @morthrai

In the supers vein, the early 2000s saw me play a bunch of Golden Heroes PBEM.

For that we had Jim Dandy, The Hero of Fleet Street. Think Daredevil, but wearing spats and tails. Was the divine embodiment of newspapers with luck controlling powers.

5. Oldest game

I played a lot of old games when they were a lot newer. But as others have mentioned, I'm not sure that constitutes an old game.

Really, I'm looking at the largest difference between pub. and play dates.

I went on a pretty good #GoldenHeroes run in the late 00s. That's 25yrs after publication.

But the clear winner has to be a Star Wars D6 one-shot I ran in 2018. I used the FFG reprints.

So that would be 31 yrs after publication.

A long time

21) Games Workshop made an effort to enter into the world of superhero games with a really good game. "Golden Heroes" has a straightforward character creation system, combat was reasonably straightforward, and the adventures were good.

Unfortunately, it wasn't able to compete against the Marvel and DC games that were released at around the same time.

Simon Burley, co-author of the superhero game Golden Heroes and many others since, has released a new multi genre TTRPG.
