Ingestible capsule to address GI tract diseases

Diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal tract diseases can be notoriously invasive and time-consuming: blood and stool lab work; biopsies, colonoscopies and endoscopies; and X-rays, CT scans and MRI imaging. But what if there was an alternative as simple as popping a Bayer aspirin?

Using a green algae capsule to deliver chemotherapeutic drugs to a mouse via the GI tract

A team of researchers at the University of California, San Diego, has developed a green algae capsule for delivering chemotherapy drugs to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In their study, published in the journal Science Robotics, the group delivered drugs via the capsule, which passed through the stomach without being digested.

I had my colonscopy today (... hopefully emergency Medicaid will backdate and cover this, otherwise I'm several thousand dollars more in debt).

And already this GI doc is a 1000x better than the last one. He's checking for diseases that aren't usually visually seen (last GI doc dismissed those) and took the Prometheus Crohns positive test seriously. Waiting on biopsies results, then will meet with him again to discuss next steps. #GItract #disabled #ChronicIllness
