Earlier this month, I had a longtime friend tell me that they're staying in a longterm relationship that they're not content with because they're almost 60 years old & "I don't want to be alone & to even think about starting over again, at my age."

I just listened to her vent. I didn't offer any feedback because she didn't ask for that.
It did make wonder how many other people around our ages aren't content in their LTRs & just staying because they're scared to be single again.

I don't believe there's an age cap on starting anew. That's just how I feel/think.

There were two paths for America and Lilith Fair was one of them. Sadly it chose the other

The all-female music festival from the 90s was a counterpoint to that era’s misogyny. Trump’s US could do with some of that hope and promise today, says Guardian columnist Emma Brockes

I swear half the people on the road got their driver’s license from the back of a damn cereal box. Nobody uses turn signals, nobody knows what a speed limit means, and apparently red lights are now just friendly suggestions. Every trip turns into a live-action version of Mad Max run by people who can’t find their ass with both hands. One of these days I’m gonna stroke out screaming at my windshield.

It’s 6:15 AM and my brain is apparently spending its energy on important questions. Driving to work, I noticed delivery companies love bird names. Cardinal. Jay. Sparrow. Nice, friendly birds.

But where’s Crow Delivery? Where’s Vulture Express? Crows are smart, and vultures never lose track of anything. Seems like they’d be more qualified than some shipping companies I’ve dealt with.

Good night, Fedi friends. I must sleep now.
Hope you have a wondrously pleasant and highly significant tomorrow.

It was only two years ago, sadly, that it finally dawned on me that Adam Ant could also be read as the adjective "adamant", meaning solid, unyielding, immovable.
I used to play his music at my high school radio station, C-89 FM, where I had my own two-hour show M-F for class credit. My H.S. was a "magnet school" for communications, and our radio station had a lot of power, rivaling local commercial stations.
How I missed this, though, that stings a bit.

I remember going to keg parties in the 1980s with one of these, spitting out Polaroids like a pitcher on the mound, watching them develop in front of our eyes, and then putting them on various refrigerators with magnets, giving them to friends, etc.
It was our version of AirDrop.

I think this might be the best summation of how I've been feeling for years now.

It's great that Ulta and Sephora are "pivoting" but when I see nothing but twenty-somethings on the sales floor, then I feel more like just a tourist in the beauty space. "Please spend your money, but keep on moving."

Beauty stores and beauty departments should back up their "pro-age" message with a diversity of staff that actually reflect that.
