#FunFact: #Tuesday is considered a day of bad luck in #Greece and #SpanishSpeakingCountries. In Greece, it is considered to be under the influence of Ares, god of war. That is reflected in the Spanish naming, martes, after the Roman god of war, Mars. And #TuesdayThe13th is even unluckier.

A bonus fun fact: In French "tue" is a conjugated form of "tuer," "to kill". Although the actual word for Tuesday is mardi. #FunWithLanguages

@vegetablegremlin Fun fact: In French, the word "chou" means both cabbage AND cute.

But "chouette" doesn't mean small cabbage or small cutie, but is one of the words for owl. ...Like a Barn Owl would be called "une chouette."🦉 ✨

Almost forgot. February 3 is the #Japanese #Festival #Setsubun, aka Bean-Throwing Festival.

You throw beans at someone wearing an oni (demon) mask, to expel bad luck and bring in good.

Incidentally, #Owls are considered good luck, because the word for #Owl, "fukurou" contains "fuku" meaning luck.🦉✨️

Was half-asleep idly browsing the news, and when I read, "Las llamas devoraron una de las ciudades más visitadas de Hawái", my sleepy brain, having missed the word for fire in the previous sentence, thought ravenous llamas had literally eaten an entire city in Hawaii and I was so confused for a moment. 🤣

[Edit: My silliness aside, that's really sad, though... 😥]
