I woke up to my dog sneezing and my skin itching because it’s FUCKING COLD outside. I filled the humidifier, set the heat to the daytime setting, and then checked the weather network. I currently reside in Brockville, and it’s damn cold, but I also saw the temperature in my childhood hometown of Marathon. Comparison may be the thief of joy, but it also gives incredible context and reminds me that I have experienced much worse than this moment. Im also glad to see proof that I’m not making shit up when I tell people I’ve experienced-50°.

It’s currently -24°, feels like -30°. Tomorrow’s high is -20° and then we get 20cm snow the next day.

Another question: does an extreme cold warning justify #StormChips? It’s not a STORM so to say, but we’re in a Yellow warning for the cold so I feel like it’s a good excuse for chips.

Usually, Saturday morning at around 6:30, I go out to forage for food at the local farmers market, supermarket, and end up standing outside in line at the local bakery so I can be inside for the smallest amount of time. But the -40C weather has daunted me, and I just redid the week's menu planning so that I don't have to leave the house tomorrow. We have snow... but it's not settling. It's just melting as it hits the ground. Where it isn't melting immediately, it's turning to mush.

I wanted proper snow.

Additional... we'll be generating exactly fuck all from the solar array today.

Additional, additional... I'm cold and very bored. We'd planned on going out today... taking the dog to the beach or a country park... That's not happening either.

Stuck in doors today I think. It's saying it's -6 out there at the moment.
